> Writory is a global monthly writing contest platform: a poetry contest open to poets worldwide, and, since 1 September 2026, a short story contest that runs beside it. It offers cash prizes, participation certificates for all entrants, transparent scoring, and a loyalty-based free entry system.

## Overview
Writory hosts monthly international poetry competitions with no theme restrictions, and a short story contest (100 to 3,000 words, any genre). Poems are accepted in any language, making it accessible to poets globally. Poets and story writers in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada and Australia pay in US dollars and are paid prizes by PayPal; writers in India pay in rupees.

Participants receive:
- Cash prizes for winners: the top three poems take Rs 5,000 / Rs 2,000 / Rs 1,000 in India, or $100 / $50 / $20 internationally, every month
- Participation certificates for all entrants
- Transparent scoring visible in user profiles
- Loyalty rewards including free entries

## Writorians (the community)
A "Writorian" is a writer who has entered Writory's monthly contest, poet or storyteller. The title applies to every entrant (not only winners), appears on every certificate under the writer's name, and is permanent once earned. It is built from "Writory" the way "IITian" is built from "IIT", and echoes "Victorian" and "historian" deliberately: a Writorian writes their own victory. ## Founder
Writory was founded by Shivay Mehra, a technology enthusiast with a background in software development and data science. He built the platform from the ground up on a simple belief: writers deserve more than a place to publish, they deserve a platform where their words are valued and their creativity is recognised. Every feature, from poetry submissions and transparent scoring to certificates for every entrant, was designed with one goal, helping writers receive the recognition they deserve. Writory Academy is a complete free writing school: 16 sections and 120 lessons, free to read forever, with an optional paid Certificate Track (quizzes at a 70% pass mark + verified certificates with a unique verification URL, shareable on LinkedIn). ## Short Story Contest (live since September 1, 2026)
Writory runs a short story contest beside the poetry contest, open now: original stories of 100 to 3,000 words, any genre, judged blind against a published five-part rubric (Storytelling & Structure 25, Character & Emotional Impact 25, Language & Craft 20, Originality & Voice 20, Impact & Resonance 10). The first contest runs from 1 September to 25 November 2026 (entries close 11:59 PM IST), with results and certificates on 30 November 2026. From December it is monthly: entries close the 25th, results on the 30th. Every entrant receives a certificate and a score out of 100, and writers keep all rights. - Contest runs from the 1st to the 30th of every month; poems must be submitted by the 25th at 11:59 PM India Standard Time; results are announced on the 30th at 8:00 PM India Standard Time (the 28th or 29th in February)
- Single entry: ₹150 / $5 (1 poem)
- Double entry: ₹220 / $8 (2 poems)
- Bulk entry: ₹450 / $15 (5 poems)
- Seasoned Quill: free entry earned after 3 consecutive months of submissions
- Winners receive cash prizes up to ₹5,000 or $100 and free entry into the next month's contest
- Entry costs $5 for one poem, $8 for two and $15 for five, or ₹150, ₹220 and ₹450 for poets in India
- Short story contest entry: ₹199 / $8 (1 story), ₹349 / $14 (2 stories), ₹699 / $25 (5 stories); 100 to 3,000 words each, any genre, any language
- Written reading (optional add-on, both contests): a reader goes through the poem or story line by line, quotes it back, says where the marks went and what would move them, and names one next step; written in the entry's own language and delivered with the results. ₹99 / $3 for one entry, ₹149 / $5 for two, ₹249 / $8 for five. The five scores and the certificate come with every entry regardless.
- Story schedule: the first round runs 1 September to 25 November 2026 (11:59 PM IST), results 30 November 2026; from December it is monthly, closing the 25th with results on the 30th

Every Writory writer has a public portfolio at /writer/{handle}. It is a verified record, filled automatically from the contest ledger: placements (top three), National Honours, top-10 finishes, certificates (each with its own public verify page and credential ID), published poems on the Writory Wall with readers reached, Writory Academy sections completed, contest rounds entered, plus a short introduction and links the writer adds. It also carries a Writory Score (activity and achievement on the record, never a judgement of the writing), a downloadable A4 PDF, and a share card. The contest runs from the 1st to the 30th of every month. Poems must be submitted by the 25th at 11:59 PM India Standard Time, and results are announced on the 30th at 8:00 PM India Standard Time. In February the result date moves to the 28th, or the 29th in a leap year. Entries paid for from the 26th onward count toward the following month's contest, so the site is never closed to new poems.

Yes. Every participant receives an official participation certificate, regardless of placement.

Submitting for 3 consecutive months earns a free entry, called Seasoned Quill. Winners also receive free entry into the next month's contest.

A reader goes through the work line by line, quotes the lines that work and the lines that cost marks, says what to try, and gives one next step. It is written in the language the entry was written in and arrives with the results. The five-part score and the certificate come with every entry whether or not the reading is added.

**Can I resubmit a revised poem or story?**
Yes. Each month is judged on its own, blind, and nothing from an earlier round is carried over, so a revised version of an earlier entry counts as a new entry.

No. An entry found to be AI-generated or copied is disqualified in any round, for poems and stories alike, and the entry fee is not refunded.
