Lost
By Pip Hurd
You lie by my side
your tender-taken breath
moving your chest rhythmically –
as steady as Newton’s cradle.
I become teary
at a gentle, spiritual tune
about self-worth.
This may be heresy
but my soul feels
its gravitational pull
in you
as you center me.
But one day I
will awake to
an empty pillow
and you will be gone
and I will be lost.
