One of the most useful things you can do when you’re frozen is lower the standard temporarily. Write: [They argue here.] Write: [Describe the room later.] Write: [Something emotional happens. Fix this.] Write the terrible version. Write the obvious version. Write the version that sounds nothing like the finished book in your head. You can revise words. You cannot revise an empty page.
