Need a Starting Point?

If you’re stuck, answer one of these: What does my character want right now? What happens if they don’t get it? What is the worst reasonable thing that could happen next? What information is someone hiding? What choice would make the situation harder? What does my character believe that might be wrong? What consequence from earlier in the story hasn’t arrived yet? Sometimes the next plot point is already sitting inside something you wrote fifty pages ago, tapping its little watch.
