Separate Preference From Craft
By LaRae Pynas · English
Not every piece will be written for you. A reader who dislikes romance can still identify confusing motivation. A fantasy writer can still notice when dialogue feels unnatural in a thriller. A poet can still recognize when an opening lacks clarity.
Try to separate:
“This isn’t my personal taste.”
from
“Something in the writing may not be working yet.”
They are not the same thing.
