This Is Not a Leaderboard

One person finishing a novel does not make someone else’s 500 words less meaningful. One writer publishing traditionally does not outrank someone self-publishing. Someone winning a contest does not mean another writer is behind. We are not measuring writers against one another. We are noticing progress. That is different.
