THE LAST BENEDICTION
by GAYATHRI NAIR C
If one day
our names become dust
upon forgotten shelves,
may love
remain.
If our footsteps
are carried away
by rain,
may kindness
remember the road.
If every letter
we ever wrote
turns to ash,
may one sentence
survive
"I loved
without asking
the universe
to return
what it had already
allowed me
to give."
For that,
perhaps,
is eternity:
Not that love
is never broken
but that it
continues
to bless
what once
made it bloom.
