My Safe Place
by Monica Hoppen
As I watched,
Those that spoke and formed sentences against me, out of sheer rage and jealously, tried aimlessly to reinvent the Bully game` of me
But slowly they faded, became weak and disappeared into the disorders they had portrayed
Their like acid
Destroying & eating away at me
I never wanted to be a poet
I never wanted to be a writer
But before you I stand, you called and I heard you
Against my will, pen in hand, I fumbled and I fought
Yet this message got sent.....
Poetry chose me
I am just the vessel
The words that I speak, leave you breathless and shaken
Your beauty is what I fill this page with, and the girl; the vessel
You will come to see, is more or less,
My Beautiful Agony
Ignorant people endlessly seek me, my mind I keep secret, I just watch them, these people gravitate toward me
For a reason I know, but will not speak
Stanger's fight for my friendship
Creating lies just to convince others they know me
Darkness the safest place for me, not what is assumed, but a place I feel safe, my darkness that I learned to survive in
You all want & want, when I am just so simple
I cannot provide this
Quite simply I just wait for the day, when I am alone in my darkness,
I am safe
No longer sort after
