Freedom in chain
by Leda Pasi
Freedom in chain Today was the day that our country became independent, It marks the historic date, the 15th of August, 1947. Independent from the British colonial rule, and became a free nation We honour our great freedom fighters till date who fought for independence. Though this day teaches us the value of unity and freedom Yet we're still fighting with multiple challenges that we need to be free from. Lots of us are going through suffering and pain We are free, yet unfree, a life of freedom but in chain. We are facing social and economic challenges like poverty, inequality, unemployment, healthcare and more! Challenges that citizens like the old, the middle aged, the youth and children cannot ignore. I look at the flags being raised on this very day, blown by the wind, strong and tall Yet I ask myself: We are free from external rulers but are we really free within our walls? Celebrating liberation but enslaved by inequality, social division and fear True freedom is when one can truly feel safe and secure. It means building a fair, just and equal life for everyone Freedom to live equally and serve injustice to none.
